ROB 는 한 사람의 이름에서 시작됐습니다.
제 이름은 강도원이며,
어릴 때부터 자연스럽게 '강도(ROBBER)'라는 별명으로 불렸습니다.
그리고 그 이름으로 시작한 공방 - 강도공방
2020년, 공방을 시작하던 시기와 동시에 코로나19 확진이라는 예상하지 못한 시간을 마주하게 되었습니다.
모든 것이 낯설고 불확실했던 그 시기에도 저는 작업을 시작했고,
그곳에서 ROB가 태어났습니다.
영어로 'ROB'는 훔친다는 뜻입니다.
저는 그 단어를 조금 다르게 해석하기로 했습니다.
고객의 마음을 훔치는 것
단순히 제품을 만드는 것에 그치지 않고,
누군가의 기억에 오래 남는 무언가를 만들고 싶었습니다.
우리가 중요하게 생각하는 것은 제품을 판매하는 순간이 아니라,
고객이 ROB를 선택하고 착용하며 느끼는 그 순간의 감정과 기분입니다.
제품은 지나갈 수 있지만,
그때의 마음은 하나의 기억으로 남는다고 믿습니다.
그리고 저는 그 순간 역시 하나의 기록으로 남는다고 믿습니다.
사람의 행동은 흔적을 남기고,
그 흔적은 시간이 지나 하나의 기록이 됩니다.

ROB는 그렇게 단순한 이름을 넘어,
사람과 시간 사이에서 만들어지는 모든 순간과
그 안에 남겨진 흔적을 기록합니다.

ROB began with a name.
My name is Dowon Kang, and since childhood, I have naturally been called “Kangdo”, a nickname derived from my name.
And that name became the name of my workshop, Kangdo Workshop.
In 2020, as I was beginning my workshop, I unexpectedly found myself facing another unfamiliar moment — being diagnosed with COVID-19.
Even during that time, when everything felt unfamiliar and uncertain, I continued to work,
and that was where ROB was born.
In English, “ROB” means to steal.
I chose to interpret the word a little differently.
To steal the hearts of our customers.
Rather than simply making products,
I wanted to create something that would remain in someone's memory for a long time.
What matters to us is not the moment a product is sold,
but the feelings and emotions a customer experiences when choosing and wearing ROB.
A product may eventually pass,
but we believe the feeling of that moment remains as a memory.
And I believe that moment, too, becomes a record.
Human behavior leaves traces,
and over time, those traces become records.
Behavior becomes Record.
ROB is more than just a name.
It exists to record every moment created between people and time,
and the traces left behind within those moments.
